Towering Achievements: Hong Kong Designer Shatters the Guinness World Record for Largest LEGO® Brick Diorama

Hong Kong LEGO® certified professional Andy Hung, in collaboration with another professional, created the 26-meter long “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” LEGO® Brick Diorama, aiming to challenge the Guinness World Record™ title of “The Largest LEGO® Brick Diorama.”

The exhibit also features LEGO® sculpture models of “Loong traveling across the World,” “Terracotta Warrior,” and “Giant Panda with Panda Twins,” which are being exhibited in Hong Kong for the first time to commemorate the National Day. Visitors are invited to visit the New Town Plaza to experience these remarkable creations.

Constructed using nearly 3 million Lego® blocks, the three-dimensional scenario model of the Qingming River Map, measuring 26 meters in length and 1.78 meters in width, officially surpasses the Guinness World Record™ for the largest LEGO® three-dimensional scenario model.

“Along the River During the Qingming Festival” is inspired by a handscroll painting by the Song dynasty painter Zhang Zeduan (1085–1145). This renowned work captures the daily life of people and the landscape of the capital, Bianjing (present-day Kaifeng), during the Northern Song period. While the painting is often associated with the Qingming Festival, its focus is more on the spirit and worldly commotion of the occasion rather than its ceremonial aspects, such as tomb sweeping and prayers. As one reads the painting from left to right, successive scenes reveal the diverse lifestyles of individuals from various socioeconomic backgrounds, including rural and urban areas, and provide insights into clothing and architectural styles. The painting is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated works in Chinese art history, earning the moniker “China’s Mona Lisa.”
